Abhedashramom is one of the most popular and oldest ashrams in Trivandrum. The ashram location is very serene and is located just opposite to the world's richest temple, Sree Padmanabhaswamy Temple.
Popularly known as Abhedashramom Mahamantralayam, the ashram also features a temple complex which has temples dedicated to Lord Ganesha, Hanuman, Balakrishna Swami, and Radha Devi. A small auditorium with a seating capacity of about 500 was constructed in 1970 where Bhajans, Discourses and Cultural programs take place on a regular basis.
About Swami Abhedananda
Swami Abhedananda (Born on 2nd October 1866 Calcutta, Bengal Presidency) was a direct disciple of Sri Ramakrishna Paramahansa. Swami Abhedananda is the founder of Ramakrishna Vedanta Math in Calcutta in 1939. He died on 8 September 1939 at Ramakrishna Vedanta Math. At the time of his death, he was the last surviving direct disciple of Ramakrishna.

Swami Abhedananda established two Asharamas, one at Thiruvananthapuram and the The Chattambi Swami Smaraka Abhedashramom at Arayoor, Neyyattinkara. Another Ashramams of Kankal (Haridwar) near River Ganga was established after Swamiji’s Maha Samadhi, by his devotees as per his earlier directions, Akhanda Nama Japam is being continued in all these centers.
